Short Term Memory Loss Can Be Awful

Short term memory is a memory function of the brain which basically stores and processes information. The processed information can be facts, data or images that remain in your memory for a very short period of time. It has a very limited storage capacity. There are several people who often suffer short term memory loss problems.

We can define short term memory loss as a disease or difficulty of the brain where the person lose the ability to remember the recently happened activities. In this case, people can only remember information that was memorized years ago.

There are several factors that can lead people to such complications. They can either be natural or accidental. Some of these basic factors are:
  • Short term memory loss may occur as soon as you start getting older.
  • People suffering from neurodegenerative sickness can also become victim of this kind of memory loss.
  • Alzheimer's disease is also one of the major problems.
  • Severe head injury or trauma can also lead someone to loss of short term memory.
  • People who consume too much alcohol.
  • Certain drugs such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, nimetazepam, midazolam etc. also potentially damage the short term memory.
  • Brain tumour, and
  • Major brain surgery.

Proper medical attention and regular exercises can help people to overcome the problem of short term memory loss.
