Keyword Method: One of the Proven Mnemonic Techniques
Keyword method is one of the most effective mnemonic techniques and has been proven to be so. This method is used mainly by students to memorize information such as states and their capitals and for many other applications such as teaching new and unfamiliar words. Suppose, a teacher wants to teach his students a new work for lawyer, that is barrister. To do this, the first thing is to associate the word barrister with a keyword which would be familiar to the students, say, bear. After this, a mental image has to be created of the word and its keyword doing something together. For example, in this case you can think of a bear working as a lawyer inside a courtroom. The keyword mnemonic techniques can also be employed for specialized terms like ranidae which is the scientific name of frog. In order to remember this, you can associate the term with the keyword 'rain' and visualize a frog sitting in the rain. These mnemonic techniques require constant practice in order to make them effective. The keyword technique can even be used to acquire the vocabulary of foreign languages. For example, certain Italian words can be learned in the following way:
So practice these mnemonic techniques frequently to achieve accuracy.
