Learning Mnemonics are one of the most popular techniques of memorizing and remembering complex and difficult to remember information. They are successfully used to memorize important information for recalling later whenever required. One of these effective learning mnemonics strategies is the 'Letter Strategy'.





The 'letter strategy' of learning mnemonics is mainly used to remember long lists of things. It involves the use of letter prompts to memorize information. For example, the word 'HOMES' is used to memorize the name of great lakes by a lot of students. Consistent practice is the key to mastering this learning mnemonic technique. Acronyms can be used in the best possible way when a single letter can be used to recall an entire word. For example, the acronym FARM-B can be used to remember the five types of vertebrate animals, namely, fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds.

In certain cases, when it is not possible to create appropriate words using the first letters of the words, sentences formed using the first letter of the information to be remembered is used.
